Wait, could Ritsu use her powers over balance to tip the SDM island over?

Wait, that was stupid.

"Hmm... you might be right" there was definitely an ominous feeling coming from the bottom of the stairway, like there was something there that shouldn't be disturbed, and whatever it wa- "It's probably nothing though." Sakura begins down the stairs, completely oblivious.

Books?

The two reach the bottom, which splits off into a hallway running left and right. They were definitely underground now, and oil lamps ran along the walls. "Oohhh, this is scaryyy... maybe we should hold hands, Ritsu-chan?" Sakura teased lightheartedly.

A long time ago in the days of the previous Hakurei shrine maiden, Reimu, Ritsu was a bit more outgoing... even visiting the Human Village to borrow Akyu's encyclopedias.

"Hehehe, no... Unless you really wanted to" Ritsu teased back as they continued along.

It was just teasing, but even so, it was a challenge, and Sakura couldn't back down from one of those. "I can feel your fear, but you're too shy to express it~" Sakura teased some more as she grasped Ritsu's hand with hers "That's brave to not show fear, but don't worry, I'll keep you safe!" she finishes with her voice getting more and more filled with mock drama.

RitsuxSakura has just been initiated. Phase one complete.

This is... the quirkiest romance moment of all time...

AND STOP FOREBODING, SHEA, THERE'S PROBABLY NO FLAN WAITING BEHIND THESE DOORS.

"It's alright, fair maiden, for I will protect you..." Sakura swings Ritsu around and off-balance, holding the small of her back to prevent her from falling, and still grasping Ritsu's hand. Sakura leans in to Ritsu, still maintaining the facade of teasing "This is pretty romantic, you know? Here in the candlelight..." The lamps were probably magical, but that was irrelevant.

But from her position Ritsu can't see the source.

Sakura doesn't notice the sound, but Ritsu's suddened tensing up told her something was wrong. Sakura straightened up, bring them both to a standing position as she turned around to see....

A cute little girl with wings made of what appeared to be a wood-like material with multi-coloured crystals dangling from it stood a few feet away in a pink and red nightgown, looking at the two girls with a sleepy curiosity, as if she had just gotten out of bed.
"I hope this isn't what it looks like." the strange girl said, definitely shaking off the drowsiness of a nap.
"Oh it's exactly what it looks like!" Sakura proclaims quite boldly, or quite randomly... "And who are you? I'm Sakura. We could play tag sometime, but don't expect to win, because I'm probably really fast but I'm not so sure because I've never played tag before, you know?" Back to her regular self, it seems...

But then.

"This is not what it looks like at all!" She proclaimed while blushing furiously.

"It was just a game... like tag... Yes, tag would settle our competition..."

"Oh, thou art so cruel to thine heart..." Sakura grasps the left side of her chest with both hands as if her heart was snapped in two.
The blonde girl in the nightgown was giggling behind them. "You two are pretty funny... and I'm Flandre Scarlet. If you're down here, you've probably already met my sister."
As if forgetting the introduction the already gave, Sakura proudly says it again "Well I'm Sakura, and eye'm the strongest!" this time the introduction included a quote from her rolemodel, a certain ice fairy she met a while ago.
Flandre narrowed her eyes and smiled "The strongest, huh? Maybe we really should play tag~" she giggled again, but this one sounded much more dangerous... at least to Ritsu. Sakura was oblivious to the dangers.

Ritsu claps her hands together, after all games are fun.

But... the way Flandre said that... it sounded dangerous.

Maybe some rules are in order?

"Flandre? What kind of tag do you normally play?"

"Oh, the normal kind. I play it alot with the fairy maids and Meiling, but I'm not supposed to be too rought with Meiling or she'll break."

"I know, Meiling told me!" Flandre answers cheerfully.

"I'm only allowed to play really fun games with fairys and the super strong people!"

'Meiling... what are you teaching her...?' Ritsu thinks.

"Oh? Yay!~" Flandre exclaims happily, much to Ritsu's dismay.

"But I have to go get dressed, Remi says it's unlady-like to play in my sleeping clothes." That said, she runs off immediatly.

As soon as she's out of earshot Ritsu leans in towards Sakura.

"S-sakura, I think she's really strong... like kill both of us strong... I think we should go find Sakuya or Meiling..."

Wow this story has really derailed from the original plot...

"Don't ask me, your the team captain. I was perfectly happy making a new friend. Gosh Ritsu, why're ya such a downer?" Sakura simply replied, jokingly forcing guilt on Ritsu.
Suddenly she raised an eyebrow as an idea struck her hard enough to penetrate her probably thick skull "Oh I see, you're just jealous~. Don't worry, I won't run off with the vampire instead of you~"

My my. Where has this story gone anyways?

Vaalian reenters the room after he has been off on his own having his own adventure. Happily grinning as he prepares to tell everyone of his adventures.

"Hello everyone! Great to be back after such a long travel."

He eagerly embraces everyone in a huge hug. The smell of sweat, blood, and disgusting various odors ling around his body as he hugs them.

"I've missed you guys! I decided to come back and I heard "vampire" so I thought you was talking about me! Or that crazy vampire that lounges around this huge, boring house." He frowns. "Well I had the most interesting trip to the Forest of Magic. I say we head there next!"

He grins widely as he looks between his two companions. "Well Ritsu? Any objection on heading to the Forest of Magic? I found a couple of houses there but I didn't want to bother anyone inside. Perhaps you could tell me who they are?"

Ritsu looks back towards the way Flandre left.

"Well, assuming it wasn't another fairy house..."

She pauses to scratch the back or her head.

"Uh, the homes of Alice Margatroid, and Marisa Kirisame are located in the Forest of Magic.. and they are in close proximity to each other. So maybe it was their homes you saw?"

She looks back again, "But we can't leave now."
