The year is 137, though Outsider calendars say 2022. The former Hakurei miko, Reimu, passed away 2 years ago due to illness. Her daughter, Hakurei Mio, age 10, is cared for at the Moriya Shrine.
It is Summer, and the residents of Gensokyo are restless, hopeful for something to distract them from the sun, whose heat reaches everywhere save for the Underground.
